Katal Speaks at TEDx Vancouver 2011

Back in the summer of 2011, Stephen and I were approached by one of the TEDx Vancouver event organizers, wanting to know if we would be interested in speaking at the next event scheduled for November 2011. As much of an amazing opportunity as it sounded, I was hesitant to accept the invitation. Public speaking was always something I try to avoid at possible, so signing up to speak in front of a crowd of over 1000 intellectuals didn’t seem like a fun idea at that time. However, I was told that we could always cancel later if something came up. So I reluctantly accepted, always thinking in the back of my head that a few months down the road we would find this to be too great of an obligation to fulfill with our busy business schedule and thus cancel the speaking engagement at the last minute. At least that’s what I told myself. I think I really knew that I gave myself that excuse to get past my personal position on public speaking, to commit myself to doing something I would be very happy with once it was over. Well, I’m very glad that I did because not only did both Stephen and I learn a lot from the whole experience and as expected do something that was great marketing for Katal but we got to share our story of finding our passion and taking the chance to pursue it. A message that we understood intuitively but found renewed inspiration in as a result of putting the words together for our TEDx speech. And much to my surprise, when I got on stage where I would normally feel butterflies in my stomach, I only felt confidence and a will to share our message. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed giving it.

Katal in Mammoth: May 22-31

Mammoth Mountain and Katal Innovations have teamed up to bring a Katal Landing Pad to Mammoth from May 22-31, 2010. The Katal Landing Pad will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily and will cost $40 per day for unlimited use.

The Katal Landing Pad will be installed on a custom jump featuring three takeoffs ranging from 10-60 feet. The setup will be accessible from Face Lift Express. Passes for use of the Katal Landing Pad are available at Main Lodge Ticket Windows.

Mammoth will be unveiling a new Spring Terrain Park in Saddle Bowl on May 22, 2010 to coincide with the opening of the Katal Landing Pad. In addition to the Katal Landing Pad jump, the Spring Park will include a 22-foot Super Duper Pipe, two jumps and six jibs. All features will be groomed and cut nightly and the park will remain open until the end of winter operations.

Mammoth’s Snowboard and Freeride Ski Teams will be offering training camps that are open to the public. Enrollment includes individualized instruction, daily video review and unlimited use of the Katal Landing Pad.

Training Camp Dates:
· May 22-23, 2010 – Weekend Session – $250
· May 24-28, 2010 – Weekday Session – $625
· May 29-31, 2010 – Holiday Weekend Session – $375

Daily Camp Schedule:
· 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. air bag session
· 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on snow training
· 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. video review session

Katal is back in Lake Louise

Katal is bringing the Landing Pad back to Lake Louise from April 23rd to May 2nd. The Landing Pad was in Lake Louise for last year’s season end celebration. At the time, it was the first public debut of the Landing Pad. Since then, we’ve done a setup for the Opening Ceremonies, had a very successful season in Vail, and hosted some really incredible sessions. Now we’re ready to bring the Landing Pad back for 10 days of fun in the sun. Lake Louise will be hosting concerts, contests, and a spring festival while we run the Landing Pad!
